Project

Keeney Elementary School in Manchester, CT, broke ground today. This signifies the beginning of construction for the State’s fourth Net Zero public school and Manchester’s third. The Keeney School community, town officials, TSKP STUDIO and O&G Industries were in attendance to celebrate with the ceremonial throwing of the dirt. Wearing his red Keeney Cubs School hat, Mayor Jay Moran celebrated the Town’s commitment to energy efficiency while providing 21st-century school facilities that are flexible and technology equipped.

Upon completion, the 56,400 sq. ft. school will house students in Kindergarten to fourth grade. Energy efficiency will be proudly on view with a clear through an entry canopy topped with photovoltaics and a sundial in the courtyard. A new STEAM suite will be created, co-locating STEM, Art, and project rooms to collaborate among the disciplines. The new outdoor courtyard adjacent to the cafeteria will feature a mix of spaces to provide opportunities for discovery, exploration, and creativity.
